Job Description:
Performs pre and post trip inspections of vehicle utilizing knowledge of safe and effective cargo loading and handling procedures. *Operates a commercial vehicle safely with minimum accidents, traffic violations, and complaints from the public. *Completes time cards, invoices, return paperwork and other company documents Obtains signatures and completes necessary paperwork at each delivery site. *Communicates and projects a positive image for the company to the public and customers of the company, including dressing in company provided uniforms, or other appropriate attire that will favorably impact customers and the general public.
Knowledge/Application: The position requires the individual to operate legally and safely a tractor trailer. The position requires a valid medical card as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration and a valid Commercial Drivers License, Class A. Prefer minimum of one year verified experience operating a tractor trailer. Must be capable of moving/lifting 75 pounds unassisted, and 150 pounds assisted. Will be required to maintain a telephone and the number must be available to the transportation department.
Job Requirements:
The position requires the driver to be at least 21 years of age and be able to speak, read and write English sufficiently well to communicate internally to associates, and externally to customers. Must be capable of reading maps and written directions. The position requires working knowledge of DOT laws and mandates and the ability to pass a written exam and road test. The position requires passing a post-offer employment physical and drug test and subsequent enrollment in a random pool of drivers for drug and alcohol testing. Individuals who test positive under the requirements of FMSC Part 40 are ineligible for employment. |
