Truck Driver Appreciation Week Amazon Gift Card Winners

By Carol Zaciewski

At JobsInTrucks, we truly value the sacrifices and efforts that truck drivers make on a daily basis. We wanted to learn a little bit more about some of the drivers that have used JobsInTrucks.com, and show them some appreciation for what they do!

John T Alford - Steering the wheel for 40 years

John really misses seeing his kids growing up and not attending family events, but he knows that without the work that he and other truck drivers do we wouldn't have all of the essentials that we need. John started driving for the Army in 1980 and received his Class A CDL in 1990. We are grateful for truckers like John, that keep our nation stocked.

Why did you become a truck driver?

I rode with a relative.

What do you miss the most when on the road?

Family events, kids growing up and being there for them.

Tell us about a special experience you had while on the job

While waiting for a load in Bakersfield, CA at Bruce's Truck Stop, a lady went into labor. Since I have medical training, I helped to deliver the baby. It was a boy!

How do you feel you make a difference as a trucker?

Drivers, small trucking businesses, and owner operators make a difference by bringing food, fuel and everything that makes our lives as Americans work. Medical supplies are just a small look into the necessity of trucks/drivers. Did you know many were told by the CDC to stay home - drivers are at risk, but we still drive. America would shut down. Shelves and tanks would be bare in 3 days if we drivers shut down, so I have to keep rolling on. Great feeling to bring in a load. If you bought it, a big truck brought it!

Candice Brewer - On the road for 5 years

Candice's love for trucking is connected with her love for travelling and making a difference in this world. We appreciate you!

Was stopped in traffic long enough to snap pictures of both the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and Yankee Stadium in New York.

How do you feel you make a difference as a trucker?

I keep safety as my top priority.

Carl Banks

Carl has hauled almost anything on your list! His experience on the road and his everchanging loads show through his passion for helping others. While on the road, Carl misses his most precious gift: his daughter. Thank you, Carl, for sharing your love and for all that you do.

Why did you become a truck driver?

Working in the oilfields in Wyoming. Getting to go different places all the time, and I really like the money.

What do you miss the most when on the road?

I have a special needs daughter. She's blind, and we have a bond that is once in a lifetime.

Tell us about a special experience you had while on the job

I learned to drive a truck in the oilfields in Wyoming. Driving on snow, and ice. Hauling everything from oil to condensate. Moving drilling rigs with winch trucks with 3 winches, gin poles. It's never the same thing. I have driven over the road delivering hazmat to Styrofoam to chicken eggs. I have doubles, triples, and tanker endorsements. I used to have a hazmat endorsement too.

How do you feel you make a difference as a trucker?

I have the experience. I am willing to work through any condition. I am a professional and like helping others. Most of all, I am willing to learn and work safely, so everyone goes home to their loved ones.

Dave Bretz

Dave wanted to see something new, but we are sure skidding on black ice was not part of that desired view. We are glad you are safe Dave. Thank you for being a super hero!

Why did you become a truck driver?

Wanted to see something new every day.

What do you miss the most when on the road?

Family and dogs.

I lost it on black ice on I39 north of Rockford. I don't know how, but I saved it without hitting anyone or anything.

How do you feel you make a difference as a trucker?

I deliver what people have in their house.
